Does the robot mower live at my home?

We install a base station at your home, where the robot lives while mowing your property. Epic handles all the programming and maintenance so you don't need to worry about a thing. The robot will mow on its programmed schedule and then return to its base for charging.

Can this equipment be used on commercial properties?

Yes, our robotic service is capable and available for commercial properties.

Is it true people name their Bot?

Heck yes! The Epic office yard is maintained by a Bot. Her name is Eleanor! It is tradition on installation day to name your Bot. We will even take your picture and put it on our website if you want ultimate bragging rights.

We have a rocky or stone path between our front-yard and backyard--can the mower navigate between areas?

Yes, in most cases the mower can drive over rocks and stone pathways. The mower can be programmed for different areas of the yard and will drive between them. In some cases we use a separate base station in the backyard and manually move it between the yards, but that's unusual and only used as a backup plan.

How often will my lawn be mowed and how long will it take?

The amount of time depends on the size of the yard, but the robots can work day or night and you don't need to be present. It goes out on a set schedule that can be adjusted around your irrigation, pets or other yard usage times.

Why wouldn't I just buy a robot rather than sign up for a service?

Our service includes edging the lawn bi-weekly, maintaining the mower blades and monitoring the effectiveness of the mower through a GPS tracking system. Our GPS system also includes anti-theft features. You could purchase your own mower for around $2,000-$3,500.00 depending on the model, but you would also need to install it. You would also have to change out blades as needed. If you want the professional look of edging and trimming the lawn, additional equipment would be necessary.

What about back yards with wrought iron fences?

Our MowBot door can be added to any fence, including iron and other metal fences.

Can the mowers handle leaves from trees?

Yes, the mowers have no problem mowing through leaves that have fallen from trees. During heavy leaf seasons such as Fall, it may be necessary to request a full leaf cleanup service from our crews, but normal leaf cover won't prevent the mower from doing its job.

What happens to the grass clippings?

Because the mower is regularly cutting your lawn, it cuts just a small bit of the grass blade each time. These bits of grass easily fall back down to the soil where they decompose and provide fertilizer-like nutrients to the roots. This makes for a much greener and healthier lawn overall.

How often does the robot mow my lawn?

Every lawn requires a different amount of time for mowing. Our installers set up the program for the optimal number of hours, while also programming it to avoid irrigation times and high-traffic usage. The robots are quiet enough to run at night and on average use just $2 of electricity per month.

Since my front and back yard are separated, how is the front maintained?

We have a door that allows the mower to move between your front and back yards via a swinging door in the fence.

Why does my mower stop for around ten seconds after changing a setting from the app?

The mower sometimes pauses to reset itself and adjust to the new settings.

The loop wire installed can remain in the lawn without any problems until the mowing season begins the following Spring. .

What’s the lifetime of the blades?

The life of the blades depends on the type of soil and grass. Typically, the life is 2-4 weeks for 1 acre mowing area.

Is it potentially dangerous to cats and dogs?

No. Our experience shows that pets will usually respect the Epic Bot and leave it alone. The mower is equipped with sensors so that when it goes towards an object such as pets, it will slow down and reverse itself and choose another direction to mow. If it does collide with a pet, the contact is very light and unlikely to cause any harm.

Can the mowers handle dog poop and other pet waste?

A small amount of pet waste is not a problem for the mowers. If too much builds up on the wheels or around the blades, the mower may lose traction so we ask pet owners to regularly clear their yard (every few days) but in general the mowers are very compatible with pets.

How do I protect my Bot from getting stolen?

The Epic Bot has several theft protection systems that may be activated. The mower cannot be used without the PIN code. The installation lock prevents it from functioning on any other installation other than your own. The time lock requests your four-digit PIN to be entered at an interval decided by yourself. The alarm requires the PIN code to be entered when Epic Bot is stopped – or a loud alarm will go off. In addition, its GPS tracker allows us to track the unit wherever it may go outside the boundary wires.

Can children play on the lawn when Epic MowBot is working?

Even though Epic MowBot operates on low power, you can still cut your fingers or toes if they come into contact with the cutting blade. A built-in safety feature means the blade will automatically stop if the mower is lifted up or turned over. The distance between the outer body and the blade tip is also extra-long to avoid feet or hands from accidentally reaching the blades. For safety reasons, we recommend turning the mower off when small children are playing on the lawn or scheduling the mower to work at night.

Is the Epic Bot equipped with GPS?

Yes, an on-board GPS that simplifies installation and assists with the navigation. There is also a GPS communication device that acts as a tracker in case the product is stolen. With the GPS integration, Epic can communicate with the mower via mobile app.

The continuous mowing has a very positive influence on your grass growth, leading to the gradual disappearance of moss from the lawn.

How does it handle very long grass?

If the grass is very long and thick, you should raise the cutting height and gradually reduce it to the preferred level. In very extreme conditions, the lawn may need to be cut by one of the Epic Crews with a normal mower before the Epic MowBot takes over.

I have a nice flower bed and trees that I want to protect. Is that possible?

Absolutely. If the boundary wire has been installed correctly around your flower bed, tree, shrub, or other objects, then the Epic MowBot will not mow in the restricted areas.

What about pine cones, tree branches, and fruit on the ground?

To maximize the life of the blades, these types of objects should be raked and collected regularly. They will not damage the mower, but the blades will wear out faster. Tree branches may also damage or bend the blades resulting in a poor cutting performance.

Can it detect objects such as clothes or toys lying on lawn?

No. It is up to you to keep the lawn surface object free. Any object that is small enough for Epic MowBot to pass over may be damaged, as well as cause damage to the mower’s blades. Make sure your lawn is clear of small objects before operating the mower.

Can it work with narrow passages?

Yes, the Epic MowBot can handle narrow passages down to 24 inches, depending on the model.

Will it work with my uneven lawn?

Due to the large driving wheels, the Epic MowBot can work very well with uneven ground surfaces. It also handles slopes up to a 45% (24°) incline. It will not scalp hills like normal mowers do. Small deep holes may cause the mower to get stuck so it's important to fill the holes before starting the mower.

Can it handle all types of lawn shapes and sizes?

In principle, yes. If you can mow with a normal mower, then the Epic MowBot can also mow. The convenience advantage may be diminished in a very complex yard with large obstacles and small patches of lawns not connected to each other. During the installation process, your tech will outline the areas the mower will not cut, e.g. flowers, bushes, trees, rocks, etc.

Can I use it in a small yard?

Yes. You can adjust the mowing time to suit your yard size.

What do I do if my lawn size is larger than 1 acre?

You can install two or more Epic MowBots for your yard.

One Epic MowBot can handle lawns up to about 44,000 sqft (1 acre), depending on the complexity of your yard. More than one Epic MowBot can be installed to handle larger lawn sizes.

Will I see the wire after installation?

Yes. One method of installation is to lay the wire on the ground using staples. In a few weeks, the wire will disappear into your lawn. Epic will cut your lawn as short as possible around the perimeter in order to get the wire as close as possible to the ground. However, if you wish to bury the wire from the beginning we can also install the wire with a cable layer machine. The suggested depth is 1-4 inches.

How do I start and stop the mower?

Once the system is installed, you have to switch on the main switch. Press the START button, and close the keypad hatch. To stop it, simply press the large STOP button.

How long does the install take?

It takes about 2-5 hours, depending on the size and complexity of your lawn. The Epic MowBot techs are great at what they do and take their time to make sure your MowBot has all the right boundaries and settings in place on installation day.

What if you have allergies – does all that mowing make allergies worse?

On the contrary, if you have grass allergies or hayfever, The Epic MowBot can be a great solution for you. Also, your grass is kept so short that allergens don't become airborne.

Is it easy to handle?
